Dwarvish

Khuzdul, the secret language of the Dwarves

The secret tongue of the Dwarves, called by them Khuzdul, and seen only in a very few place-names (such as Khazad-dûm) and other fragments.

Notes

1

We have no specific date for the origin of Dwarvish, except that Aulë devised it before he made the Dwarves, and that was before the awakening of the Elves. Dwarvish therefore existed in some form for at least three ages (or very roughly four thousand years) before the first rising of the Sun.

2

To be precise, this origin is suggested in The Peoples of Middle-earth (The History of Middle-earth volume XII), X Of Dwarves and Men.
