A series of the Tengwar that related to variations of the sound kw, and were thus named the Quessetéma (literally, the 'feather-series', though the word quessë, 'feather', was chosen simply because it began with the relevant sound). This series was used specifically in representing Quenya words, which possessed the sounds represented by the characters of the Quessetéma (with the word Quenya itself being a clear example). For writing other languages, the same series of characters would be used as the calmatéma or 'k-' series. Those characters were composed of at least one lúva ('bow') curving up and to the left from a straight telco or 'stem'.
