Atanalcar

Youngest child of Elros Tar-Minyatur

The youngest of the four children of Elros Tar-Minyatur. His elder brother Vardamir Nólimon became the second King of Númenor.

We know almost nothing of Atanalcar himself. He was probably born some time in the later first century of the Second Age (certainly several years after II 61, when his brother Vardamir was born). We know that he left a line of descendants, and so presumably founded a noble family in Númenor. The fate of Atanalcar's line is unknown, but if any survived in Númenor at the time of the Downfall, they would all have been lost in that disaster.

Notes

1

It is known that Atanalcar's elder brother Vardamir lived to the age of 410 (the early generations of the royal house of Númenor had exceptionally long lifespans) and it seems fair to presume that Atanalcar survived to a comparable age.
