A name meaning 'silent' that referred to the Beacon-hill of Amon Dîn. That hill marked the eastern edge of the Drúadan Forest, and on its summit was the easternmost of the Beacons of Gondor. South from Amon Dîn lay the Grey Wood that masked the eastern end of the Stonewain Valley, from which Théoden and his Riders emerged as they rode to the relief of Minas Tirith.
