Lake Evendim

The lake on which Annúminas stood

Map of Lake Evendim

A lake in the north of Middle-earth, called by the Elves Nenuial. Annúminas, the ancient royal city of Arnor, was built on its southern shores.

Notes

1

The name of the lake (and the surrounding area) derives from æfen dim, 'evening twilight' (where æfen is the origin of the English word 'evening'). On that basis, the initial 'e' of Evendim is probably pronounced long, as it is in modern 'evening'.
