The peerless glittering light that shone from the Two Trees and filled Valinor before its Darkening. The light of Telperion was silver, and that of Laurelin was golden, and each Tree waxed and waned in power over seven hours. So, as a day passed in Valinor, the land would be full of silver light or of gold or, twice each day, a mingled light of both.

In the Annals of Aman (in Morgoth's Ring, volume X of The History of Middle-earth) we are given precise dating for the time when the Two Trees shone their Light across Valinor. That source gives the period as 1,495 Valian Years, where one Valian Year equals 9.582 solar years (at least, according to the most usual calculation). That gives an equivalent period of 14,325 solar years in total (though in fact the Sun had yet to be created at the time the Two Trees shone in Valinor).
