A minor river of northern Beleriand. It flowed southwards from Ered Wethrin to meet the Teiglin before that river passed under the eaves of the Forest of Brethil.

Malduin's name is never translated specifically, but it seems to be made up of the Elvish elements mal-, 'gold' and -duin 'river'. The reason Malduin was known as the 'gold river' is nowhere explained.
