Rowan

An ancestress of Sam Gamgee

Holman the greenhanded of Hobbiton had five children. His daughter Rowan was the eldest of these, and she married out of the family's Hobbiton gardening tradition when she wedded Hob Gammidge of Tighfield. That tradition re-entered Rowan's line of the family, though, in her grandson Hamfast Gamgee, who returned to Hobbiton. Hamfast became the gardener at Bag End, a position he eventually passed on to his own son, Sam.
