The grandson of Elros Tar-Minyatur. When the time came for his father Vardamir to take the Sceptre, he refused it and passed the Kingship directly to Tar-Amandil (though legally Vardamir was held to be the second King). Tar-Amandil was in turn succeeded by his son Tar-Elendil.
Notes
1
Tar-Amandil's father Vardamir abdicated immediately on his succession in the year II 442, so that in practice Tar-Amandil immediately succeeded his grandfather Elros Tar-Minyatur as King of Númenor. Legally, Vardamir was held to have ruled for a year, but the date of II 442 is the year Tar-Amandil actually became King, discounting Vardamir's notional one-year reign.
