Throne of Morgoth

The Dark Throne in the depths of Angband

The immense throne on which Morgoth sat, bearing his Iron Crown, to command his forces from the deepest pits of Angband. The throne stood in a hall bathed in firelight, with its walls covered in weaponry and infernal devices of all kinds. More commonly called the Dark Throne, the seat of Morgoth was made to a huge scale to accommodate the great size of the Dark Lord himself.

The term 'Throne of Morgoth' is also used in a symbolic sense to describe Morgoth's power in general, as the seat of the Dark Lord's might and the centre of his authority over the Orcs and other dark forces that threatened Beleriand during the later First Age.
