A rare name for the Two Trees of Valinor, Telperion and Laurelin, that filled Valinor with their silver and golden light from the time of their making. They were brought into being through the song of Yavanna, growing on the mound known as Ezellohar. Telperion cast a silver light, and Laurelin a golden, and their lights waxed and waned so that at some times Valinor was filled with the silver of Telperion, and at other times with the gold of Laurelin.

After the rebellion and escape of Melkor, he returned to Valinor with Ungoliant, and struck each of the Trees with his spear. Ungoliant drained their sap and left them dead, and Valinor was darkened. The Valar were able to save only the last silver flower of Telperion and the last golden fruit of Laurelin, and from them they formed the Moon and the Sun.
