Deldúwath

The corrupted land of Dorthonion

Dorthonion was a northern region of pine-forested uplands, held at one time by the Men of the House of Bëor. In the Dagor Bragollach, it fell to the creatures of Morgoth, and its pine forests became filled with darkness and fear. At this time it was given new names, the most common of which was Taur-nu-Fuin, the Forest under Nightshade. Another of these names was Deldúwath, formed from the Elvish words for 'horror' and 'night shadow'.
