The river Rivil rose at Rivil's Well in the west; many other rivers had their sources in the mountains along Dorthonion's southern borders

Rivil flowed northwestward out of Dorthonion to meet Sirion at the Fen of Serech

Dorthonion

The pine-forested highlands above Beleriand

A highland region lying immediately to the north of Beleriand; overrun by Morgoth in the Dagor Bragollach, after which it was known as Taur-nu-Fuin.
