A region in the central parts of Númenor, used especially as grazing land for sheep.

The name Hyarastorni is not explained, though it clearly begins with an element meaning 'south' (presumably placing it in the south of the Mittalmar). The closing -torni may be 'downs' (compare tyrn in Tyrn Gorthad, the 'Barrow-downs'), in which case Hyarastorni could be interpreted as something like 'South Downs'. This interpretation is speculative, but it does fit the known geography of the area.
