The eleventh King of Rohan was Brytta, the son of Helm's nephew Fréaláf. Though his kingdom had recovered from the desperate times his predecessors had known, Rohan was still a troubled land when Brytta came to the throne. He gave what help he could to his people, and fought to protect them from the waves of Orcs that descended on the land during his time as King.
This King's legendary generosity was prefigured in his name: Brytta is Old English for one who dispenses help or charity. In gratitude for his aid and service, though, his people gave him another name: Léofa, 'the beloved', and this title was preserved in the traditions of Rohan long after Brytta's death.
