Orchaldor

A nobleman of Númenor

Among the descendants of House of Hador in Númenor was one Hatholdir, a close friend of Tar-Meneldur the fifth King. Hatholdir's son was Orchaldor, who married Meneldur's elder daughter Ailinel, making Orchaldor the brother-in-law of Meneldur's Heir Aldarion. Orchaldor and Ailinel had a son, Soronto, who seems to have played some part in the history of Aldarion's Kingship, though the details of his actions are nowhere recorded.

We have no dates for Orchaldor, but we know that his wife Ailinel was born in the year II 712, so Orchaldor was presumably born at a similar time. During this period of Númenor's history, members of the royal house could expect to live for some four centuries, though as a descendant of a lesser line, while still extraordinarily long-lived, Orchaldor probably did not survive to such a great age.
