A title given to Morgoth. It was used especially among the Men who entered Beleriand seeking to escape the darkness of their past, only to find the Dark Lord in Angband, besieged by the Noldor. Some among them doubted that the Dark King even existed, but many of the newly arrived Men joined the Eldar in their fight against Morgoth, and these allies of the Elves became known as the Edain.
