Gundolpho Bolger

A patriarch of the Bolger clan

The earliest known member of the Bolger family, born in the year III 2731 (or 1131 by the Shire-reckoning). As the Bolger family seat was known to be at Budgeford in Bridgefields, it seems likely that Gundolpho originated in that region. He married Alfrida of the Yale (to the south of Budgeford) and had three sons: Gundahar, Rudolph and Gundahad. Of these, Gundahar the eldest was the most important, and through him Gundolpho was an ancestor of the later Masters of Buckland, as well as Frodo Baggins himself.
